Is your property in Perrysburg's designated Historic District?
Are you planning a construction project (new, remodel, demolition, etc.) in the Historic District?
If so, you should be aware of how your project is affected by various local organizations and city government entities and regulations.
Where is the Historic District?
The boundaries of the Historic District are designated by the city's Planning and Zoning Code. If your property is near or at a boundary, please visit the Planning and Zoning Office located in the Municipal Building at the corner of Indiana Avenue & Walnut Street to view an enlarged map. You can then verify your location with respect to it and any recent additions to the district which may not yet be mapped.
What is Historic Perrysburg's role in your project?
Historic Perrysburg, Inc. has no regulations or legal authority over your project. It is simply an organization whose mission is "To cultivate an interest and awareness of the history and architecture of the Perrysburg area...and to provide assistance in the preservation of old buildings and sites." In certain cases, we may offer our opinion to the city or public regarding a project; however, that opinion has no legal binding.
What is the City of Perrysburg's role in your project?
The City of Perrysburg has various regulations which you must comply with and has complete legal authority over your project. Section 1245.45 of the city's Planning and Zoning Code identifies the Historic District, governs construction within it, and delineates the process which you must follow in order for you to proceed with your project.
What should you do about your project?
Please visit the Planning and Zoning Office located in the Municipal Building at the corner of Indiana Avenue & Walnut Street to learn if and how your project is affected. The staff will provide you with complete up-to-date information about construction in the Historic District.
